6ft Shaft to Work on Off-Hip and Off-Low Technique
This drill is from the OG himself, Bill Pilat of The Goalie School fame, and is one of the best ways to quickly correct a goalie who drops his/her hands down and in towards their body and rotates their hips when coming underneath to an off-hip shot. This is a bad habit that shrinks your frame and surface of your stick, harms your athleticism, and takes your eyes off the ball. With the D-Pole in this drill, you are forced to drive your hands upfield towards the shot or else the shaft hits the pipe or net, giving you very clear instant feedback. We’ve seen this be a quick-fix for a number of goalies!
